Joe's Gourmet's Fried Green Tomatoes

 

Ingredients

  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 1/2 Cup of Joe’s Gourmet Fish Fry
  • 3 medium-size green tomatoes, cut into 1/3-inch slices
  • 1 tablespoon of Salt
  • Vegetable oil
  • REMOULADE INGREDIENTS
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup chili sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Creole mustard
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce, or to taste
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 medium scallions, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green olives
  • 2 tablespoons minced celery
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • Great Value Pure Ground Black Pepper, 3 oz
  • 1 teaspoon capers, chopped (optional)

Directions

  1. Dip tomato slices in egg mixture, Dredge tomato slices in Joe’s Gourmet Fish Fry. Pour oil to a depth of 1/4 to 1/2 inch in a large cast-iron skillet; heat to 375°. Drop tomatoes, in batches, into hot oil, and cook 2 minutes on each side or until golden. Drain on paper towels or a rack. Sprinkle hot tomatoes with salt.
  2. Mix together mayonnaise, chili sauce, mustard, olive oil, hot sauce, lemon juice, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir in scallions, parsley, olives, celery, capers, and garlic. Season with chili powder, and salt and pepper.
  3. Cover and refrigerate.
